Our story
The Arunodaya Foundation was founded in March 2005 by a group of friends from the Sri Lankan armed forces, united by a shared vision to help those in need. Their journey began modestly with a small care home in Wennappuwa, accommodating just five children and one adult with intellectual disabilities. Driven by compassion and a commitment to service, the foundation quickly gained recognition in the community as a beacon of hope and care. With the generous support of religious leaders, government officials, and compassionate donors from across Sri Lanka, the foundation's services expanded significantly. By 2007, the Arunodaya Foundation was providing full-time care to 17 residents, marking a significant milestone in its mission to uplift and support vulnerable individuals in society.
Now ,
the Arunodaya Foundation proudly operates two care homes, providing essential support and a nurturing environment for individuals with special needs. Our main center, located in Wennappuwa, is dedicated to the care of females, while our second branch in Chilaw focuses on male residents. Throughout our journey, we have remained steadfast in our mission: to create a safe, loving, and respectful space for all individuals we serve. Each day, our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure that everyone feels valued and cared for, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Through various programs and activities, we strive to empower our residents, helping them lead fulfilling lives enriched with dignity and happiness. As we continue to grow, our commitment to providing high-quality care remains unwavering, reflecting our deep respect for each individual’s unique needs and rights.
